Community Guidelines
CURRENT works because users share well-reviewed cards. For that to work, the following rules apply — short, clear, enforceable.
Last updated: May 2026
What we want: good cards
- Factually correct. Wrong answers don't improve anyone's knowledge.
- Written in your own words. Cards are based on sources but not copy-pasted 1:1.
- Instructive and specific. Clear question, unambiguous answer, optional brief explanation.
- Respectful wording. Including in explanation text.
- Sources where needed. Especially for medical, legal, or technical topics.
What doesn't belong in the community
Wrong or misleading content
- Demonstrably false facts
- Outdated rules, standards, or definitions presented as current
- Pseudo-medical, pseudo-scientific, or conspiracy-theory content
Illegal content
- Hate speech, discrimination
- Glorification of violence
- Instructions for criminal acts
- Pornography or sexualised depictions of minors — no exceptions
- Promotion of drug consumption
Infringement of third-party rights
- Copyright infringement (cards with copied text or images from textbooks, magazines, other apps)
- Trademark infringement
- Violation of personality rights (depicting real people without consent)
- Confidential third-party material (proprietary business documents, restricted course materials, etc.)
Spam and manipulation
- Advertising, affiliate links, self-promotion
- Duplicates of identical cards across multiple accounts
- Automated bulk uploads
- Vote manipulation
- Sock-puppet accounts
Images
- No personal or identifying photos of real people
- No screenshots from protected works (books, films, course materials)
- No violent content
- Text-on-image must be created by you or be royalty-free
How we moderate
- Pre-publication review. Cards you submit pass a light review — we check clarity, accuracy, and rule compliance.
- Post-publication reports. Any user can report any published card. We review reports within 24–48 hours.
- Actions. On violation we retract cards, warn the author, or suspend the account on repeated violations.
- Severe violations. Illegal content is removed immediately and may be reported to the competent authorities.
How to report a card
Every community card has a "Report card" button (flag icon). Pick a category:
- Factually wrong
- Outdated
- Inappropriate / rule-breaking
- Copyright / trademark violation
- Spam
- Other with free-form comment
You can optionally add a short explanation. False reports have no consequences — we evaluate every report on substance.
For serious cases (illegal content, acute danger) also email info@currentapp.de.
Copyright / Notice and takedown
If you hold rights to a work and believe a card infringes them, contact us at info@currentapp.de with:
- identification of the affected work (e.g. book title, source, original excerpt)
- identification of the card complained of (link or card ID)
- your contact details
- a good-faith statement that the use is not authorised
Processing time: usually within 5 business days. For valid notices we remove the card and notify the uploader.
What happens on repeated violations
- 1st violation: card retracted, notice to the account.
- 2nd violation: multiple cards retracted, temporary submit ban (e.g. 7 days).
- 3rd violation or severe single violation: permanent submit ban or account suspension.
We notify account suspensions by email. You may appeal within 14 days if you believe the violation is unfounded — write to info@currentapp.de.
Retract your own cards
You can retract any card you have published at any time. Open the card detail view → "Retract card". The card becomes invisible to other users within seconds. Aggregated statistics (voting, learning data) are anonymised and kept for the community pool.
No conflict with Apple guidelines
CURRENT is available at App Store rating "4+". Cards aimed at an older audience (e.g. detailed medical cards, military jargon) are allowed but must be marked under "Difficulty: high" and with a clear category. Cards that would be reject-worthy under Apple Guidelines (1.1, 1.2, 1.4) are removed without exception.
